Greylag Goose (23.05.2009)

The Greylag Goose (Ansel Ansel) is one of the largest and was/is a fairly common species in Europe. In Norway they where close to extinction some 40 years ago, but luckily efforts where made and they are to be seen again. I found these fellas around a small artificial lake close to Valle Hovin in Oslo. They where just dozing in the sun, attending their feathers and relaxing. Quite a large number gathers here every spring/summer, I counted about 40 individuals. Despite the time of the year I did not see any chicks, I found that strange because I’ve seen Greylags with chicks other places in Oslo around the same time.
