“The Schmucks” at Elm Street (30.10.2009)

These are the shots from the last The Schmucks-gig I attended at the legendary Elm Street rock club in Oslo (yes I know they are late!). As always in such places, dark, cramped and difficult to shoot. I wanted to do most of these in B/W from the start, white balance is a total and royal PITA at such places. Also, B/W do perhaps suit such places better too, as they are quite gritty. Hence these conversions are tuned for high contrast, limited dynamic range and with added “texture”, that is grain-like appearance. Strong emphasis on the musicians and trying to minimize all the ¤#&¤%$£€@ things that get in the way (microphones, cables and so forth). I’m not sure how well this strategy turned out, but I suppose I will hear it from the good guys in the Schmucks if they suck ;-) To my defense, you gotta try new things!
