Lyngen, Northern Norway (Juli 2009)
I’ve lived in and around the capital of Norway, Oslo, for the past ten years or so. Yet, originally I come from the northern city Tromsø, almost at the opposite side of the country. Tromsø is the regional capital and largest city in the north, travel agents like to describe it as “Paris of The North”. I’m not sure I agree wholeheartedly to that ;) It is a nice city however, and as I grew up there I have a special connection to the city and the entire region.
The summer of 2009 I spent a week with my parents in their vacation place some 100 km by road from Tromsø, at a place called “Steindalen” (direct and correct translation: “Rock Valley”) which is just a few scattered houses in the middle of nowhere. Steindalen is a long, narrow valley with a glacier, feeding an extremely cold and fast flowing river. I was planning to do quite some photography on this trip, but the second day I tripped and hurt my ever troublesome ankle for the third time that summer. Alas, I did not get around as much as I hoped and my photographic efforts where desperate and hasty, as I mostly just limped around after my folks.
However, I did get some frames, and I’m finally done with with the processing. I’m putting a small selection online, I think my family and perhaps friends from the region would like to see them. You can see more information about each picture underneath them when you’re viewing them. All these photos are from the Storfjord/Steindalen area in Lyngenfjorden, which is a large fjord with many twists, turns and minor connected fjords and bays (see the map).

Most of them are with the 16-85, yeah. A few with the 35 1.8. I must remember to update the descriptions with exposure data.
My dad is still a powerful man, but he was born in ’44 and is no youngster any more. He is however still active and of reasonably good health. Mom keeps him in shape! :p

Hi!
I sent you an e-mail a while back, but looks like you’ve changed your adress since the last time we talked. I’m still working my trusty D90, it’s starting to show signs of heavy use and age now though!
